What is an Airport Master Plan?
An Airport Master Plan is a long-range planning document that serves several important purposes for the Airport Authority, airport users, and the local community. The Master Plan’s essential purpose is to evaluate current and projected aviation demand and identify what airport improvements would be needed to satisfy the demand, as well as customer expectations, over a 20-year planning horizon. Keep in mind that an Airport Master Plan provides a strategic vision and development plan and recommendations for Near-Term, Intermediate, and Long-Term capital improvement projects. Because the aviation industry is dynamic, a strategic Airport Master Plans should be flexible and regularly updated by the airport owner
